Meet Joe! At the age of 18 Joe joined the Army t

Meet Joe!

At the age of 18 Joe joined the Army to serve his country but also to test himself. He wanted to
see if he could serve with the best and be chosen to fight his nation’s wars.

Joe served 20+ years in support of our freedom – his military resume is long and impressive.
The moments he is most proud of are making it through Special Forces training, making it on an
“A team”, serving with heroes in our nation’s longest war and serving multiple deployments. He used his skills to not just fight but to hunt our enemies successfully.

Joe and @martyskovlundjr recently released the book, Send Me: The True Story of a Mother at
War, as a tribute and celebration of Chief Shannon Kent, his first wife and mother of his
children. Shannon was a trailblazer and highly accomplished special ops combat Navy veteran.
She was killed in combat on January 16, 2019 in Syria. We will be honoring her with the help of
@stralo225 who will be racing a special memorial tribute bike for Shannon.

Come and meet a hero! We are blessed to have Joe and his team onsite July 18-20 to share his
new mission to preserve America and Shannon’s story of patriotism and sacrifice. Joe will be at
his booth on Friday for an autograph session and will also be presenting the inaugural trophy to
the winner of the Branch Battle, our new Warrior class team competition.

Thank you for your service, Joe – for continuing to fight the good fight and for standing strong
for all Americans. And thank you Shannon, for making the ultimate sacrifice for friends and
strangers, for living with honor, courage and passion. We are forever grateful.

Meet Kendall! Kendall has been a long-time frien

Meet Kendall!

Kendall has been a long-time friend, supporter and neighbor of Washougal MX Park (he first
raced there in 1973 but who’s counting?), the Huffman’s and moto community for many years.
He initially joined the military for educational opportunities but that turned into a lifelong career spanning 2 branches and 30+ years of service.

Kendall spent 11 years active-duty Navy as a rescue swimmer serving 5 deployments – they
call them ‘cruises’ (minus the late-night entertainment and dessert buffet). He moved north from San Diego to Portland to work in the private sector as a mechanic and pilot for Columbia Helicopter but it didn’t take long for him to be recruited by the Air Force Reserve 304th Combat Rescue Unit as a full-time combat flight engineer out of Portland. He’ll tell you he spent 20 years as a helicopter taxi rescuing local civilians from adventures gone-wrong to fellow soldiers in hostile situations under the cover of night.

Local Hero! Kendall was a key player in the 2002 Mt. Hood rescue mission for climbers and his
fellow teammates whose initial rescue chopper went down. He remains friends with the pilot of
the first rescue chopper – and of course he loves to moto too!

Fun facts: Living in San Diego in the early 80’s Kendall found himself out riding in the hills with
the likes of Broc Glover – who kindly taught him how to use the clutch on his 2-stroke and he’s
been going fast in the corners ever since! And Christian Craig’s grandpa was Kendall’s senior
NCO – talk about a small world!

Meet Shannon! While an athletic rockstar at Mich

Meet Shannon!

While an athletic rockstar at Michigan Tech she joined the Army ROTC program – driven to care
for those who were willing to give up their lives for our country. She graduated with her nursing
degree, receiving the distinguished Military Graduate Award, and was commissioned into the
Army nurse corps in 2013.

Not all heroes wear capes! She has cared for the dying, nurtured newborns, supported the
living, felt the challenging times of survival, treasured the satisfaction of thriving and every life transition in between.

In 2021 she achieved her career goal becoming a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health
Nurse Practitioner with a passion to serve the mental health needs of military families. It is the
work that fills her cup!

We are honored to have Shannon onsite July 18-20 to share her story and offer support. Visit
her booth to learn about @upwell.psych and the resources and tools available to lift up veterans
and their families.

When she’s not caring for her patients, you can find Shannon working hard to meet her own
self-care goals, cheering on her brother, @jmilller_927, and adventuring with her family.

Thank you for your service, Shannon – for hearing and helping those who suffer in silence and for giving back to your community. And thank you Justin, for introducing us to your sister – we are so proud to have her be a part of our community to support and love our veterans! Hooah!

Meet Ezra

He joined the Marine Corps because he sought more discipline, motivation and the opportunity
to travel.

His proudest moments so far in his military career are earning Marine of the Quarter Q123 from Region 8 of the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group and his meritorious PROMOTION to Corporal. Applause! We’d say that’s worth the buzz cut!

Fun fact: Ezra likes listening to slow country music when he works out. It must be working
because he just ran a personal record in May at the Marine Corps Historic Half (Marathon that
is!) in Virginia. He finished in a time of 1:31:27 coming in 48th place out of 3,712 runners! Oorah!

Thank you for your service Ezra and for keeping us safe home and abroad!

Meet Austin!

You’ll find Austin at Washougal – always happy and helpful, lending a hand to anyone in need
and sharing stories about his adventures.
He chose to serve his country because he wanted to make a difference and do something cool with his life (and college was not his idea of a good time)!

Austin served in the United States Marine Corps as a CH53E Aircraft mechanic and crew chief.
His proudest moment was when he was awarded combat wings for operations during Operation
Enduring Freedom (OEF).

Fun fact: Austin LOVES burning government-funded ammunition from the sky (oorah!)

Austin would like to thank his mother, Linda, and his motocross family, for instilling strength,
resilience and determination. And we’d like to thank Austin for his service – for his patriotism,
enthusiasm and now for keeping our moto supplies arriving on-time and in-bound as an aircraft mechanic for UPS airlines!

Meet Mike He’s our fastest rider – breaking

Meet Mike

He’s our fastest rider – breaking Mach 2 twice in his career… as an Air Force fighter jet pilot!
Mike has protected us all over the world – living in Japan and New Mexico, then Iraq and
England. In 2012, Mike and his family separated from active duty and landed in Washougal,
spending 10 years as an instructor and evaluator F-15C pilot in the Portland Air National Guard,
retiring in 2022. He flew the Washougal National flyover 2 times officially and unofficially – well
that might be classified!

Mike’s proudest achievement was becoming an instructor pilot in the F-15 and he joined the
military to fly fighters so we call that a mission accomplished.

Finch Fun fact – he was on the set for the filming of Transformers 2 and he got Megan Fox in
trouble for talking to him on set. That’s a wrap!

Thank you for your service Mike – and for keeping the skies safe whether you’re sitting in the cockpit of a fighter jet or now in a commercial jetliner for American Airlines!
